Pro-Tech Automotive Service Technology
The PRO-TECH Automotive Service Technology major is a cooperative two-year college level student technician training program, which leads to an Associate in Applied Science degree. The Automotive Technology Department at Oklahoma State University-Institute of Technology administers the program’s courses, working in close relationship with OSU-OKC (who teaches the general education courses), Metro Tech and the automotive service industry associations, suppliers and distributors.
Technical training on vehicles and components includes the latest developments in Engine Repair, Heating & Air Conditioning, Manual Drive Train & Axles, Suspension and Steering, Automatic Transmission/Transaxles, Brakes, Electrical Systems, and Engine Performance. Students will also have the opportunity to complete a paid internship as part of their technical training.
In addition to the technical curriculum, students will complete courses in Math, Technical Writing, Psychology, Government, Business, and Ethics to provide students with the background necessary for effective communication and the development of interpersonal skills.
