Director

This rewarding career offers students the opportunity to enter the child care profession. Students will take the Teacher Assistant and Master Courses, then advance toward the Director skills. In addition to learning how to attend to children’s basic needs, students learn to organize activities that stimulate the child’s physical, emotional, intellectual, social and creative growth. Students will then learn supervisory and management skills as they prepare to become a Child Care Director. With over half of all mothers now working outside the home, well-trained child care centers are in great demand and this requires skilled directors. This program provides instruction in the classroom and laboratory, as well as supervised practicum experiences. The major provides a stepping-stone for students seeking degrees in education, counseling and child development.
