Cosmetology Facialist Instructor

This major prepares students to become licensed as qualified teachers of the art and science of skin care theory and practice in industry as well as in public or private institutions.  Students receive training in teaching methods, course outlining and development, and appropriate evaluation techniques.  Included are law, beauty school management, and record keeping as well as a practice teaching component in the classroom and clinic.

To obtain state licensing, students must complete 1000 hours of instruction and pass the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology written and practical exams.

Prerequisites

• High school diploma or GED
• Oklahoma Cosmetology License for Esthetician
• Letter from Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology to confirm the 500-hour instructor’s career major eligibility
• English proficiency test for those who speak English as a second language
• Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology registration; $5.00 fee is required
