Cosmetologist-High School

Receive hands-on training in nail, skin, scalp, hair care and composition. This major prepares students to become licensed cosmetologists. Students receive classroom instruction and hands-on training in nail, skin, scalp and hair care and composition. High school students must complete 1,000 hours of technology training in the theory and practice of cosmetology. An additional 500 hours of required training is waived for high school students if high school courses are successfully completed. High school students must enter this major at the beginning of their junior year.

Prerequisites

Must be at least a junior in high school and be 16 years of age by November 1
Must be registered by State Board of Cosmetology; requires a $5 fee (money order/cashiers check), documentation of student’s date of birth prior to attending class and social security number
