Program Description
Learn the exciting world of a radiologic technologist. A radiologic technologist is qualified to perform imaging procedures using radiation. This two-year program combines classroom and laboratory instruction with extensive clinical experience in a variety of settings. Day classes are Monday through Friday and begin each August.
Evening classes are Monday through Thursday initially and Monday through Friday after clinicals begin. Evening start dates vary. Day and evening clinical assignments are required for all students.

Radiologic Technology prepares students to be a radiographer.


MISSION STATEMENT:

The Radiologic Technology program provides an accredited educational program within the framework of the career and technology education system that prepares individuals for employment in the performance of medical imaging procedures along with their accompanying responsibilities.

GOALS:
Achievement of the program’s mission is assessed by the degree to which the following goals have been met:

  1. Students develop effective communication skills.

  2. Students demonstrate problem solving and critical thinking skills.

  3. Students demonstrate appropriate radiation protection practices to their patients, self, and others.

  4. Students develop the entry level skills expected in a Radiographer.

  5. Students demonstrate professional development.

  6. Graduates gain successful employment related to their education.

Salary Range
Entry Level $16.00 - $18.00/hour
With Experience $18.00 - $25.00/hour

    Schedule
    22 months

    Days: Full time
    Classes: 7:40am - 2:15pm
    Clinicals: 7:00am-3:00pm, 8:00am-4:00pm or 3:00pm - 11:00pm

    Evenings: Full time
    Classes: 3:00pm – 9:30pm
    Clinicals: 3:00pm – 11:00pm, 7:00am - 3:00pm or 8:00am - 4:00pm

    Prerequisites
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 18 years of age
  • CPR for Health Care Providers (American Heart Association course)
  • For students applying to enter the program in the fall of 2008 the following requirements must also be met:
       17-18 hours of college level general education in the following areas:
            Comp I - 3 hours
            
    Comp II or Speech - 3 hours
            Math - 3-4 hours
            Medical Terminology - 3 hours
            General Education - 5-6 hours
