Program Description

This program prepares individuals to be medical assistants, multiskilled health professionals who work primarily in ambulatory settings such as medical offices and clinics. The program combines classroom, laboratory and work-site learning components to ensure that each student achieves entry level competencies for the medical assistant. The work-site learning component includes 116 hours in a clinical
externship and 88 hours in an administrative externship. The externships may be in clinics, physician’s offices, hospitals and other health care facilities in the metropolitan Oklahoma City area, as well as surrounding communities.

Medical Assisting prepares students for medical secretary, clinical medical assistant and medical administrative office assistant.
