Health Careers Certification

College Credit OCCC
OSU-OKM

Program Description

Health Careers Certification is an independent study program with a clearly defined plan of individual study. It covers a broad set of studies which are basic to all health care occupations and helps the student narrow his/her focus to one or more specific occupations. This is a non-traditional program with a specific plan of facilitated study. Each student will work with the teacher and/or counselor to complete a program “prescription” which will identify the program core and career pathway(s) the student will pursue. This program is a one- or two-year course of study, depending on the individual needs and goals of the student.

All first-year students will study a basic core and choose a careerpathway from the following:

  • Diagnostic Services Career Pathway
  • Therapeutic Services Career Pathway
  • Health Informatics Career Pathway

Second-year students will return to take a continuation of their first pathway choice or select a new option within a career pathway as outlined above. Students may opt to take high school math credits as a pathway.
