Program Description

The EMS Technology program prepares students for a career in the Emergency Medical Services field through two programs: Emergency Medical Services Technology (EMST) and Paramedic. The Emergency Medical Services Technology (EMST) is a combined program of EMT Basic and EMT Paramedic while the Paramedic program only provides EMT Paramedic. The educational process consists of four components: didactic, laboratory skills, clinical skills and field internship with a paramedic. The instructor on campus provides the didactic and laboratory skills; clinical skills are performed under a clinical preceptor or physician within the Oklahoma City metropolitan area hospitals, emergency rooms and behavioral disorders facilities; and field internship rotations are held with the local ambulance services in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. All levels of training must be completed to be eligible for Paramedic registry testing. Training is regulated by the State Department of Health EMS Division and adheres to the National Department of Transportation curriculum.

Emergency Medical Services Technology (EMST) prepares students for EMT Basic and EMT Paramedic.

Paramedic
prepares students who have already completed EMT Basic for EMT Paramedic.

Salary Range
Entry Level $32,000 - $35,000/year

    Program Length

    Emergency Medical Services Technology 1,500 hrs.

    Schedule
    EMS: 12 months, full-time Monday-Friday 7:40 am to 2:15 pm

    Paramedic: 14 months, evenings only 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm
