Cosmetology/Nail/Facial Instructor    

Program Description

The Instructor program at Metro Tech sets the standard for teaching excellence. The Instructor curriculum,provides a course of study to learn the skills needed to teach cosmetology. Sought after by industry the Beauty Academy’s graduates are offered a wide array of employment possibilities. Graduates are employable as educators in industry, as well as public or private institutions. The program is divided into three areas: Master Instructor, Facial Instructor and Nail Instructor. Day and evening classes are available Monday through Friday in 3-6 hour blocks of instruction.

Cosmetology Instructor prepares students for licensure exam for master, facial or nail instructor.

INS 3000 Orientation and Review of the Cosmetology Curriculum
INS 3010 Introduction to Teaching
INS 3020 Course Outlining and Development
INS 3030 Cosmetology Law, School Management and Record-keeping
INS 3040 Observation
INS 3050 Practice Teaching


Salary Range
$12,480 - $50,000/year depending on experience, type of beauty school or branch of industry

    500 hours with 2 years experience in the last 5 years (5 -9 months)

    Prerequisites
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Oklahoma Cosmetology License in field of applicable course of stud
  • Letter from Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology to confirm the 500-hour instructor’s program eligibility
  • English proficiency test for those who speak English as a second language
  • Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology registration; $5.00 fee required
