PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

The sky's the limit in the aviation industry. The aviation maintenance technician is responsible for the inspection, repair, and maintenance of today's technologically advanced aircraft. Aviation Maintenance Technology, an 18-month program certified by the Federal Aviation Administration, begins with the 660-hour General course. General is a prerequisite for entry into either the Airframe or Powerplant course. Classrooms, practical labs, and separate airframe and powerplant hangars with a variety of aircraft are used for academic and hands-on training. Students will learn aviation math; aviation physics; fundamentals of aircraft maintenance; technical mechanics; fundamentals of regulations, publications, records and electrical systems (basic electricity, airframe electricity, powerplant electricity).

PREREQUISITE(S):

  • Admissions Policy
    • Meet FAR 65.71 A (1) & (2) Requirements
    • Attend Orientation Seminar
    • Application Interview/Assessment & Testing

EXPERIENCE:

  • H.S. Diploma, GED, or aptitude test results

ENTRANCE TEST:

    TYPE
  • Math & Technical Reading - applicable to AMT

  • DATE
  • Scheduled approximately ten (10) weeks prior to start of class

  • SCORES/GRADES
  • 70% or above on entrance tests; must maintain 70% or above to remain in program

LENGTH:

  • 660 class hours (approximately 6 months/22 weeks)

ATTENDANCE:

  • 100% is required by FAA

TIME OF DAY:


    DAYS:
  • 8:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. (Monday - Friday)
  • NIGHTS:

  • 4:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M. (Monday - Friday)

  • BREAKS:

  • 10 minutes every hour or 30 minutes every 1.5 hours

  • LUNCH:

  • Days: 11:00 A.M. - 11:30 A.M. (30 minutes)
  • Nights: 6:00 P.M. - 6:30 P.M. (30 minutes)
