THE FOLLOWING STEPS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL ADULTS, HOME SCHOOL AND OUT-OF-DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Step 1: PRE-ENTRANCE - ASSESSMENT

The assessment you will be given is the ACT Compass. If you would like to learn more about the Compass and even review some sample questions please visit the ACT Compass Test Preparation section of the MetroTech web site. You may also find it helpful to spend some time with our online math refresher course for a review of basic Math, Algebra, Geometry and Percents.

  • Call 605-4732 to register for testing.
  • It is necessary to bring $10 cash and a current photo identification card for testing.
  • The Compass test takes approximately 1.5-2 hours to complete.
  • *Home School or Out-of-District High School Students must bring their current and updated High School Transcript.
  • MUST BE PRESENT WHEN SESSION STARTS



Step 2: PRE-ENTRANCE - APPLICATION
For all adults and home school or reciprocity high school students

After submitting acceptable scores on the COMPASS test, an individual will be asked to complete the application for admission. All requested information must be accurate and all statements must be signed in order for the application to be processed.

Only AFTER the application has been processed will an individual become an "APPLICANT". A Student Services Recruiter will review the application and then you will pay a fee of $35.00 for enrollment processing which will apply to your tuition.

If you already have a COMPASS test from another school that is 2 years old or less, you may report directly to the North or South enrollment centers. You MUST take your scores with you in order to fill out an application.

Step 3: Additional Assessment

After the Compass test and the Pre-entrance application, you will be given a packet at the enrollment center with additional information to complete. You will call (405) 605-5540 or email ccollins@metrotech.org to schedule your ASVAB. You will need to complete the remaining material in the packet BEFORE the ASVAB and bring them with you on the day of the test. There is NO CHARGE for this test. All ASVAB assessments will be given at the Aviation Career Campus in the McNickel Room

ASVAB tests are held from 9 am - Noon on the following dates:

The Aviation Career Campus requires all students to take the additional assessments.

  1. ASVAB - Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. This will help determine vocational abilities.
  2. FYI - Interest Survey
  3. Oklahoma Career Cluster Survey - A survey of careers to help make positive career choices.
  4. Employment/Work History Information - A list of your related educational work information.

When you arrive to take the ASVAB you will sign up for an Individual Career Plan (ICP) meeting with the Aviation Counselor. Your test results and start date will be reviewed at the time of your Individual Career Planning Meeting.

 

Step 4: ENROLLMENT FOR STUDENT'S TRANSFERRING FROM ANOTHER AVIATION PROGRAM OR THE MILITARY

Transfer from another Oklahoma Technology Center AMT Program:

  • Review our Course Comparison for AMT Schools and follow the directions given to determine how the courses at your current school correspond to the Metro Tech program.
  • If you would like to transfer to Metro Tech after reviewing the comparison, go to Step 1 listed above.
  • If you have a current Compass Test (less than 2 years old), you may bring a copy of it to the Enrollment Centers listed above. Then, you will only need to fill out the application and put down the deposit to begin your process of transfer.
  • Call the Aviation Counselor at 605-5540 to schedule a pre-orientation meeting - your start date may vary depending on what you have already completed.
  • You will need to bring verification of all of your completed programs to the pre-orientation meeting.
  • If you are on financial aid, you will need to notify your financial aid representative at your current school AND financial aid at Metro Tech. You may call 605-4437 or 605-2211. It will be your responsibility to coordinate your financial aid.
  • Currently, tuition for Aviation Maintenance is $3.25* per hour. Your tuition will be calculated at your pre-enrollment conference based on the remaining hours that you need to complete at Metro Tech. *This is subject to change.

Transfer Military or other Training to Metro Tech AMT Program:

  • For specific information regarding transfer from the military or a private or out of state Aviation Maintenance Program please contact:

  • After getting specifics from Pete Lee or Herman Bounds, begin Steps 1 through 6 that are listed on this document for enrollment

 

Step 5: PRE-ORIENTATION MEETING - Aviation Career Campus- 5600 S. MacArthur

At the ASVAB assessment, you will hand in your additional information provided in your enrollment packet.

You will also make an appointment for an Individual Career Planning (ICP) session with the Aviation Counselor to review specific issues regarding enrollment including:

  • Financial Aid information
  • Tool Lists and Calculator
  • Tuition Payment Agreement
  • Total Cost of Program
  • Books
  • Fill out demographic data form
  • Receive a school calendar
  • Receive the Safety Packet (to be completed by the first day of school)
  • Receive a Metro Tech Handbook
  • Discuss special needs or requests for successful enrollment
  • Short tour of campus
  • Other

 

Step 6: ORIENTATION

Attending Orientation is MANDATORY. Students will not be eligible to start the AMT program without attending ORIENTATION.

All students will be required to attend Orientation scheduled for

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 9:00 am OR 4:00 pm
(The orientation will last about 1 ½ hours)

All students must attend for:

  • Comments/requirements by Director/Asst. Director
  • Photo IDs taken
  • Agreements signed
  • Presentation of Tool Purchase options
