College Connection Overview
(revisions to this page are pending)

College CreditThe first cooperative agreement guidelines were adopted by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education in 1988 and revised in 1997. The purpose of the cooperative agreement is to expand student access to education and share career technology and higher education resources.

These two goals have been met extensively at Metro Technology Centers with our college partners. We have cooperative agreements with Oklahoma City Community College (OKCCC), Oklahoma State University - Oklahoma City (OSU-OKC), Rose State College (RSC), Oklahoma State University-Okmulgee (OSU-OKM) and Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) that allow students to receive college credit for certain courses or programs completed at Metro Technology Centers.

Access to seamless education is available to all students in cooperative agreement programs. A great example is the aviation program. Students enroll during their Junior year of high school in the Metro Technology Centers Aviation Maintenance Technology high school program and can continue through a doctorate in aviation education WITHOUT ever repeating or losing a college credit.

Aviation students earn 17 college credits in high school. They also earn up to 20 additional credits while completing the Airframe and Powerplant FAA program at Metro Technology Centers. Because the Associate of Applied Science degree requires just 60 credits, students are well on the way to completing a college degree.

Metro Technology Centers and colleges also share resources in a variety of ways including:

  • Shared Facilities - The OCCC and Rose State College's Aviation Maintenance Technology Degree technical courses are taught at the Aviation Career Campus.  The OCCC Surgical Technology courses are taught at the Springlake Campus Health Careers Center
  • Shared Libraries - During your co-enrollment, you have access to your college library and resources.
  • Tutoring Assistance - All of our college partners will assist you with tutoring and will have access to their math and computer labs.
  • Financial Assistance - Oklahoma City Community College, Oklahoma State University-OKC and Rose State College have tuition fee waiver scholarships for Metro Technology Centers' students working toward an Associate of Applied Science degree in their program emphasis.  Contact individual college for application rules and deadlines.
