Learn more about earning College Credit at Metro Tech

College Credit through Cooperative Alliance Agreements

For over a decade, OSU-OKC has been awarding college credit to Metro Tech adult students through a Cooperative Agreement. OSU-OKC and Metro Tech are partnering in an Alliance which will allow high school students to receive college credits as juniors and seniors while completing Metro Tech programs.

Students participating in Metro Technology Centers programs may earn college credit from Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City, and other participating colleges, through cooperative agreements approved by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education:

Why apply for college credit? Why not?
It's easy, and...

  • Students still in high school can begin earning college credit toward a degree.
  • Admissible students can transfer college credit to any college or university depending upon the degree program.*

Who is eligible to participate?

  • Adult students
  • High school students who are:
    • in 11th and 12th grades at an accredited high school or at least 16 years old receiving high school level instruction at home or from an unaccredited high school
  • High school students must also have:
    • an ACT score of 19, PLAN score of 15 or a high school GPA of 2.5
    • approval from a high school counselor or recruiter
    • written permission from a parent or legal guardian
    • met college admission requirements

Once admitted, students must maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average in their college level courses to remain in good standing.

What degrees are included?

Cooperative Alliance Agreements include the Associates of Applied Science (AAS) degrees that directly relate to technology center programs.

Is my degree or certificate transferable to another college or university?

The receiving college or university to which a student transfers has the discretion to determine the eligibility of those courses as applied toward the desired degree plan.

How much credit can a student earn?

Each Metro Tech program varies in the number of courses and college credit hours that are available.

When is college credit granted?

Credit is awarded by semester upon successful completion of an approved course.

Who awards the college credit?

OSU-Oklahoma City, and other participating colleges and universities, award the college credit for courses taught at the technology centers.
